Primainvest Capital Management Involved in Attracting Over €1.6 Million in Investments for Several Local Tech Startups

In the past year, Primainvest Capital Management, founded by renowned investor and advisor Florin M. Pop, has been involved in attracting over €1.6 million in investments for several tech startups targeting both local and international markets.

In a period marked by global unpredictability, driven by the pandemic, supply chain issues, and the war in Ukraine, the business and investment environment has faced many challenges and strategic and operational reconfigurations. Even amidst this volatile context, Primainvest Capital Management has continued to strengthen the strategic directions established in 2020.

One of the company’s main directions has been diversifying the investment portfolio through investments in growth potential listed companies: “The high volatility in global capital markets has led to significant withdrawals from the growth company segment listed on stock exchanges and a shift towards dividend-type companies. In my view, these declines create opportunities for long-term investors. Therefore, in Q2 2022, we resumed acquisitions in listed growth companies on global markets, particularly in the US: Nyse & Nasdaq. This way, we are consolidating our positions in growth companies across several targeted verticals, such as Biotech (genome sequencing & therapy), EV & Green Energy, Metaverse, Tech,” says Florin Pop, Founder of Primainvest, Investor, and Business Advisor.

Another strategic direction initiated by Primainvest Capital Management in 2020 and strengthened to date is direct involvement in innovative tech startups with scaling potential.

Over the past 12 months, Primainvest has actively contributed to the local investment and angel investing ecosystem, led by founder Florin M. Pop, as Lead Investor and facilitator in several significant startup projects.

One of the most mature among these is Telios Care, a project in which Primainvest played an active role as a Founding Investor, alongside Emmett King. Together with him, Primainvest led the Pre-seed round, attracting significant investments into the company, and later actively contributed to the Seed Round of €1 million.

Founded by Philip Choban, Telios Care is a leader in the Romanian telemedicine market, bringing over 25 years of experience from the US in remote healthcare services to Romania.

“The main challenge for Telios was to enter an almost non-existent ecosystem in Romania. Primainvest, through Florin, helped us understand the opportunities and challenges we faced. Florin has been with Telios since the beginning, as a Founding Investor and the first member of the Board of Directors. Besides his experience, Florin brings a high level of empathy to collaborations, which is, in my view, the most important quality of a consultant or mentor… not just to listen, but to truly understand,” says Philip Choban about the collaboration with PrimaInvest and Florin Pop.

AiVA is another important tech startup in which Primainvest was involved in 2021, as Lead Investor in the Seed round, following participation in the Pre-seed round in 2020.

Founded by Pushkar Chatterji, AiVA uses artificial intelligence to analyze video streams from CCTV systems, extracting valuable insights about consumer behavior for businesses in retail and beyond.

The Seed round held in Q3 2021, with Primainvest’s involvement, brought the startup an investment of €200,000.

“Primainvest and, implicitly, Florin Pop, have been directly involved in the evolution and growth of AiVA. From regular, structured monthly meetings to unplanned phone calls on any topic, we always found support in Florin when we needed advice and guidance. Florin has helped us in various areas, from corporate structuring and sales strategies to budget planning and fundraising,” says Pushkar Chatterji, founder of AiVA, about the collaboration with Primainvest.

Another tech startup in which Primainvest has been involved is BOOKR, an innovative online booking app founded in Cluj-Napoca.

Under Primainvest’s guidance, BOOKR conducted a Pre-seed round in the form of a private placement, targeting an investment of €120,000. The round was successfully completed at the end of 2021.

Primainvest’s investments in high-potential tech projects continued into the first quarter of 2022 when the company actively participated, alongside partners from Robin Good, in the Pre-seed round for the startup StageMe.Live.

StageMe.Live is a Romanian-German SaaS startup that helps online stores increase sales and customer engagement through live video streaming.

The Pre-seed round was a real success, attracting an investment of €170,000 for the startup.

In addition, there is the involvement in the launch of Robin Good, a business development project dedicated to startups in Romania, where Florin Pop is a Co-founder, alongside Sandu Băbășan and Alin Laurențiu.

In addition to investing in high-scale tech startups, Primainvest has focused on strengthening its team by adding valuable collaborators in expertise, know-how, and network. These include Cristian Varga, specialized in investment and portfolio management, Cristiana Bogățeanu in Pitch Deck Training, and Smaranda Ignat for startup advisory.

Beyond the company’s independent actions, Primainvest has developed collaborations and partnerships with communities dedicated to investors and local startups. These include Transylvania Angels Network (TAN), Growceanu, ClujHub, CS Inno Hub, and ClujStartups.

The past 12 months have represented evolution, consolidation, and the setting of new high-impact directions for the Romanian business and investment ecosystem for Primainvest. The upcoming period is dedicated to implementing concrete actions in the established directions.

In addition to the aforementioned, Primainvest holds stakes in other projects, including ThinkOut, Nifty Learning, Cartloop, Easy Sales, Cyscale, SanoPasso, Deveo Media, which are in preparation for investment rounds or in scaling processes.
